Double Chin Reduction Toronto

A precision combination of fat-dissolving injections and radiofrequency tissue tightening to permanently reduce submental fat and define the jawline — without surgery or downtime.

Book Consultation

Overview

Submental fat — commonly referred to as a double chin — is one of the most common and stubborn areas of localized fat. Its persistence often has a strong genetic component, making it resistant to diet and exercise. At FusionMed, we treat double chin using a combination approach: injectable lipolysis to permanently destroy fat cells, and InMode RF (including BodyTite and FaceTite modalities) to simultaneously tighten the overlying skin and underlying tissue. When appropriate, these are sequenced to address both fat reduction and skin contraction in the same treatment program.

Benefits

What to Expect

  • Permanently reduces submental fat that is resistant to diet and exercise

  • Simultaneous skin tightening prevents loose skin after fat reduction

  • Defines the jawline and neck for a more sculpted, balanced profile

  • Non-surgical — no incisions, no general anesthesia, no significant recovery

  • Combination approach addresses both fat and tissue quality for superior results

  • Improved neck contour is visible from multiple angles and in photographs

  • Each component of the treatment targets a different tissue layer for comprehensive improvement

Ideal Candidate

Who It's For

Double chin reduction is appropriate for adults who have persistent submental fat regardless of their overall body weight, and may also have mild laxity of the neck or jawline skin. It is not a weight-loss treatment. Ideal candidates are at or near their goal weight. Patients with very significant skin excess (pannus) may be better served by a surgical consultation. A physician assessment determines the most appropriate treatment combination for your anatomy.

The Process

How It Works

01

Assessment & Planning

Your physician evaluates the submental area to determine the proportion of fat versus skin laxity. This guides the selection and sequencing of treatments. Both lipolysis and RF tightening protocols are explained and tailored to your anatomy.

02

Fat Reduction & Tightening

Injectable lipolysis is administered in a precise grid pattern under the chin. InMode RF treatments deliver controlled thermal energy to the skin and fibrous tissue, promoting contraction and collagen stimulation. Sessions are typically spaced 6–8 weeks apart.

03

Progressive Contouring

Fat cells destroyed by lipolysis are cleared by the body over 4–8 weeks. RF-induced collagen remodeling progresses over 3–6 months. Most patients require 2–4 lipolysis sessions and 2–3 RF sessions to achieve full results.

Common Questions

FAQs

How many sessions are needed to reduce a double chin?

Most patients require 2–4 lipolysis sessions for the fat component, spaced 6–8 weeks apart. InMode RF tightening is typically performed in 2–3 sessions. These may overlap in scheduling. Final results are typically evident 3–6 months after the last session.

Will the double chin return after treatment?

The fat cells destroyed during lipolysis are permanently eliminated. With stable body weight, results are long-lasting and the double chin should not return. Significant weight gain can cause remaining untreated fat cells to enlarge, so maintaining stable weight preserves outcomes.

Is there swelling after double chin injections?

Yes — swelling, firmness, and mild tenderness under the chin is expected for 1–2 weeks following lipolysis injections. This is a normal inflammatory response. Patients should plan for visible swelling during this period. Swelling peaks at 48–72 hours and gradually resolves.

Can I return to work after treatment?

Most patients return to work within 1–2 days of lipolysis treatment. The neck area will be swollen and tender but not typically debilitating. For patient-facing roles, scheduling treatment before a long weekend may be preferred. InMode RF treatment has minimal visible downtime.
