Overview

Medical peels at FusionMed use pharmaceutical-grade acid formulations — including trichloroacetic acid (TCA), alpha-hydroxy acids (AHA), beta-hydroxy acids (BHA), and multi-acid blends — to achieve controlled skin resurfacing that goes beyond what over-the-counter or spa-level peels can deliver. By removing the outermost layers of damaged skin, medical peels trigger cellular renewal, stimulate collagen, and address a wide range of concerns including hyperpigmentation, acne scarring, fine lines, and uneven tone. All peels at FusionMed are prescribed and supervised by our physician team.

Ideal Candidate

Who It's For

Medical peels are appropriate for adults with hyperpigmentation, uneven skin tone, mild to moderate acne scarring, fine surface lines, or congested, dull-looking skin. Peel depth is customized to the individual — lighter peels suit sensitive or first-time patients, while deeper TCA peels address more significant concerns. Darker skin tones require careful peel selection to avoid PIH. Active rosacea, eczema, and open acne lesions may temporarily contraindicate treatment. All patients must commit to sun protection throughout their treatment course.

The Process

How It Works

01

Skin Preparation

In the weeks leading up to your peel, a preparatory regimen (typically including retinol and sun protection) primes the skin for optimal response and reduces post-peel pigmentation risk. Your physician selects the appropriate peel strength and formulation at consultation.

02

Peel Application

The skin is cleansed and degreased before the peel solution is applied in controlled layers. You will experience a tingling or warming sensation during application. Neutralization is performed at the appropriate time, and soothing post-peel products are applied.

03

Peeling & Renewal

Peeling occurs 2–5 days post-treatment and lasts 3–7 days depending on the peel depth. New, renewed skin emerges during this process. Strict sun avoidance and moisturization are critical during the recovery phase.

Common Questions

FAQs

What types of medical peels are available?

We offer a range of peels customized to your skin concern and tolerance: superficial peels (AHA/BHA — minimal downtime, suitable for maintenance), medium-depth peels (TCA 20–35% — targets pigmentation and scars, 5–7 days downtime), and combination peels (Jessner's, VI Peel, and others). Your physician determines the most appropriate formulation at consultation.

How much peeling should I expect?

Superficial peels produce subtle shedding over 3–5 days that may not be visibly dramatic. Medium-depth peels produce more noticeable flaking and peeling over 5–7 days. The level of visible peeling does not always correlate with result quality — deeper cellular changes occur regardless of surface activity.

Can I wear makeup after a peel?

Makeup should be avoided for at least 24 hours after a superficial peel and for the duration of active peeling after a deeper treatment. Once peeling has resolved, mineral SPF-containing foundation may be worn. We provide specific post-care instructions based on your peel type.

How many peel sessions are recommended?

For general skin refinement, a course of 3–4 superficial peels spaced 3–4 weeks apart is standard. For pigmentation or scarring concerns, a combination approach including 1–2 medium peels alongside maintenance superficial peels delivers the most durable results. Your physician will outline a complete plan.
